Ben joined Dr. Geoffrey O'Loughlin as co-presenter of the DRAINS workshops in 2013 with considerable experience in the areas of urban development, stormwater design, on-site detention and undertaking flood studies. Having worked in both the private and public sector, Ben's experience also extends to water sensitive urban design, water harvesting and filtration, and several other multidisciplinary projects.

Commencing in 2019, Ben has taken on the role of managing Watercom, providing support to customers and continuing the development of DRAINS. Since March 2022, Watercom Pty Limited transferred the ongoing development, sales and support of the DRAINS, PIPES and PIPES++ software to Kustom Engineering Pty Ltd T/a Watercom, led by Dr. Benjamin Kus.

Ben has completed a PhD in Engineering - Membrane Technology and Water Harvesting and is a published author with over 20 journal papers.

He is a contributing author of the Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019 guidelines having authored Chapter 5 ‘Stormwater Conveyance’, in Book 9 ‘Runoff in Urban Areas’.

Frequently Asked Questions


When does the course start?
The course starts from the date of registration and is a completely self-paced online course.
How long do I have access to the course?
After enrolling, you access expires based on the duration of the course you have purchased (7, 30, 90 or 365 days). If you cannot complete the course in that time, then you can upgrade to a longer period course by contacting us. Once complete, you will be issued with a certificate of completion & no longer have access to the course.
What if E-Learning is not for me?
If by the end of Chapter 2 you feel that the E-Learning format is not for you, we offer peace of mind to upgrade to a scheduled face-to-face workshop with 100% credit of your fees towards the new course.
Can a Course be purchased on behalf of another User?
Yes. A User account needs to be created under the School of Kustom Engineering during checkout (Email Address & Password), which should reflect the person intended on completing the Course. If an Administrator completed checkout on behalf of the User, and accidently purchased the Course under the Administrator User Account, then it can be transferred at no cost to the intended User. The User needs to first create their account and then notify Kustom Engineering of the required transfer.
Can I pay without a credit card?
Yes. Please enrol using the 'Enrol & Pay Via Invoice' button below, where you will be directed to complete and submit an enrollment form. On receipt of the form, Kustom Engineering will issue a Tax Invoice that can be paid via direct transfer. The User will need to created an account under the School of Kustom Engineering, then on receipt of payment, the purchased course will be added to the User's account.
Do I receive a Certificate?
Yes, on completion of the course, participants receive a Certificate of Completion with 15 Hours CPD
