Live Online: DRAINS Fundamentals

This is a comprehensive instructor-led training course delivered live online over three days, including mandatory prework (20 hours CPD).

Sessions will run between Tuesday 20 August and Thursday 22 August 2024. The course is led by an expert instructor, and is highly interactive with hands-on examples, exercises, and opportunities for discussion.

DRAINS Live Online Training is suitable for both new and experienced DRAINS users who are interested in covering the basics, refreshing knowledge, learning the latest features of DRAINS and understanding how to apply the ARR 2019 guidelines to urban drainage.

Hossein Ansari

Technical Manager & Principal Engineer, Watercom

Hossein Ansari is an experienced Civil Engineer with over two decades of work in both private and public sectors. He has previously held roles as a Senior Design Officer at Sutherland Shire Council and as a Drainage Investigation Engineer at City of Botany Bay Council.

In 2018, Hossein became a co-presenter for the DRAINS workshops alongside Benjamin Kus and Geoffrey O’Loughlin. In 2022, he was appointed as the Technical Services Manager & Principal Engineer at Watercom.

As a consultant, Hossein has been offering his expertise as a Civil Hydraulic Engineer to various consulting firms since 2007 in Australia. His work has encompassed roads, drainage, overland flow path studies, and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) projects, from initial planning to final design and construction.

His major interests include hydrological and hydraulic modelling and design utilising various computer software programs including DRAINS, HEC-RAS, ILSAX, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Civil Site Design, MapInfo, QGIS, ArcMap and other GIS software.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start?

Access to the pre-work (2.5hr ARR seminar) will be available approximately two weeks before the course is scheduled to run.

How long do I have access to the course?

After completion of the live online course, you'll have 90 days of access to the session recordings to re-watch or refresh your knowledge. If you upgraded to a 12-month expiry, then you'll have 12 months of access to the session recordings.

Can a course be purchased on behalf of another user?

Yes. A User account needs to be created under the School of Watercom during checkout (Email Address & Password), which should reflect the person intended on completing the Course. If an Administrator completed checkout on behalf of the User, and accidently purchased the Course under the Administrator User Account, then it can be transferred at no cost to the intended User. The User needs to first create their account and then notify Watercom of the required transfer.

Can I pay without a credit card?

Yes. Please register using the "Need an invoice?" link at the top of the page, where you'll be directed to complete and submit a manual registration form. On receipt of the form, Watercom will issue a Tax Invoice that can be paid via direct transfer. On receipt of payment, the purchased course will be added to the User's account.

Do I receive a Certificate?

Yes, on completion of the face-to-face component of the course, participants receive a Certificate of Completion with 18 Hours CPD.
